Whether it be understanding an assigned reading for an English or Philosophy class or helping a student edit a paper, I love reading and writing! I have had multiple experiences teaching English to non-native speakers both abroad and stateside. I graduated university with degrees in both intercultural studies and honors humanities (philosophy and theology combination) and feel my education has prepared me to tutor in this area.

It makes me feel proud and happy when I see students are improving and feeling more confident in the subjects they needed help. One of my favorite quote is, You are not here merely to make a living. You are here in order to enable the world to live more amply, with greater vision, with a finer spirit of hope and achievement. You are here to enrich the world, and you impoverish yourself if you forget the errand. - Woodrow Wilson, President of the United States.

I have been working as a Mandarin interpreter for a year. I am working towards becoming a conference interpreter for business meetings, I attended the medical interpretation class at New York University. I was invited to teach working professions Chinese who will be working in China whose native language is English. I believe in the practical value of knowing the language and I am thrilled to share my knowledge through my working experience, how I was able to assist doctors with living saving procedures. I want to show how far a language degree/certificate can take someone.

As an avid learner, I always encourage learning in others. I have been tutoring since 2011. In that time, I have helped over 200 students of all ages prepare for over 50 subjects, standardized tests (ACT, SAT, ISEE, SSAT, GRE, GMAT), and foreign languages (Latin, Arabic, Spanish). I began tutoring professionally in my Sophomore year at Emory as a class aide and then branched out to tutoring privately, which I have been doing ever since. On average, my students see 10-15% increases in their scores within 4-8 regular sessions, and some students have seen as high as 30% increases. I tutor not only the content by essential test-taking strategy geared towards each test to make sure students are making the most out of their time. I possess a wealth of knowledge in many areas, but one of the things that I find fun about learning is seeing how subjects connect to the real world. This is one of my greatest strengths as a tutor as I show students the different ways in which their studies connect to the world, their ambitions, and interests.

Hello! My name is Ms. Jane Elieff and I'm an experienced educator with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education and nearly 12 years of tutoring and teaching experience. Additionally, I have over 1,500 volunteer hours with children and over 300 hours in elementary college practicum experience. Combined, I've spent close to 18,000 hours teaching or tutoring children. I have extensive experience teaching all elementary foundational reading and math skills such as word recognition, fluency, comprehension, number sense, and number operations. In our one-on-one sessions, your child will receive private, individualized instruction that is based on their specific needs. Whether your child needs extra help grasping a skill, one-on-one help finishing assignments, or looking for an extra challenge, I am here to help! Additionally, I am very passionate about neurodivergent students. This passion is largely driven by my personal journey with ADHD. I have extensive teaching experience with many neurodivergent learners such as students with ADHD, ASD, and more. In addition, I have previously taught an online 1:1 class where I provided executive functioning coaching/mentoring for many students, all of whom were neurodivergent. Finding the right tutor for neurodiverse learners can be challenging, but with over 12 years of experience working with students on the autism spectrum, ADHD, and executive function challenges, I specialize in individualized, structured learning that meets each student's unique needs. My ultimate goal is to empower all students by helping them develop the skills and confidence they need to navigate their learning more effectively. I truly believe that every student has the potential to thrive, and I'm here to guide them along that journey! Whether you need a full content review, a brush-up, test prep or intensive help for closing learning gaps you’ve found the right tutor!
