Need help with math, language, logic, science, or technology? I'm here for you!

Aloha, friend! My name is Lucas Jarrett, and I’m an online tutor! If I had to characterize my approach to helping people learn in simple terms, I would say that I believe education is a matter of teaching adaptability. The ability to adapt, or the capacity to change, is the fundamental skill of learning all things. We must always be prepared to adopt new ways of being. When we study life, we study the infinite; and when we study the infinite, our mindsets must be similar, or else we will not see everything that we could have seen. To realize that learning is the art of changing is to begin learning everything more easily. My primary goal is to help my students see and apply this awareness when studying anything they hope to do well. I have professional experience teaching many subjects, including arithmetic, algebra, trigonometry, geometry, philosophy, biology, history, psychology, music, billiards, writing, research, literature, English, Java, Python, HTML, CSS, SQL, and more. Furthermore, I’m happy to offer insight into cognitive habits that often bring academic trouble, such as perfectionism, motivation, inattention, depression, and anxiety. I do not limit my educational strategies to any single methodology; I believe that every individual has a unique path in life, and I therefore work to be responsive to the specific, immediate needs of my students. Context is everything. If I'm trying to help a student become a better reader and writer, I may recommend that we explore good literature together; if I am helping someone prepare for a test in geometry, good practice problems and instructional resources will likely be part of the process. I tutor many subjects not listed here, so feel free to ask about anything! If I know how to help in a reasonable timeframe, I will help! 🙂 Note: I offer discounts to people who have financial need or pay in bulk. Please feel free to contact me directly to discuss options if my posted rate is beyond your budget!

First step is the crucial step. Don't hesitate. I'm here to help you grow and learn

For over five years, I have supported students and professionals in mastering mathematics, business, and data analytics concepts, helping them improve their academic performance and workflows. My approach combines clear explanations with tailored study strategies, leveraging each individual’s strengths and adapting to their unique learning styles. This fosters confidence, clarity, and a deeper understanding of complex topics. As a self-motivated learner, I thrive on those "lightbulb" moments when concepts click intuitively—a depth of comprehension I strive to instill in my students. Having navigated the challenges of cracking a highly competitive college entrance exam in my country (acceptance rate <1.5%), I understand the effort required to excel in tough academic and conceptual environments. This experience drives my commitment to simplifying problem-solving for students, using visual, practical methods that connect abstract ideas to real-world scenarios. My goal is to reduce frustration and make learning engaging and relatable. During my undergraduate studies, I interned for three months at Reviser, a start-up focused on education. There, I gained insight into students’ pain points by addressing their doubts in mathematics and solutions for grades IX–XII, aligned with the IGCSE curriculum. My second teaching role was with Chegg USA, where I taught students from college levels via online platforms. I covered subjects including Mathematics (Basic, Intermediate, Calculus, Integration, Trigonometry, Algebra, Finance, and Writing) Education and Interests: I hold a Master’s in Management with a major in Finance and a minor in Strategy. A finance enthusiast, I have cleared the FRM Level 1 exam (GARP). I am passionate about problem-solving, consulting, and guiding others, finding motivation in the smiles my solutions bring. Quality is non-negotiable for me—I am dedicated to delivering the best, ethically, no matter the effort required.

Highly experienced Physical Sciences and English tutor

I am a full-time Chemical engineering student at the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg in South Africa. I am also a part-time freelance tutor and writer. I have tutored Physical Sciences to high school students and first year college students for the past 2 years and I have just recently gotten into tutoring English (with a specialty in literature, writing and conversational English). I got into the world of tutoring because I enjoy the process of unpacking complex concepts and simplifying them to such a level that everyone has access to them and can understand them. As a tutor, I strongly believe that our brains are wired differently and as such, they process information in different ways and so it only makes sense for each one of us to have a personalized and individualized learning experience that caters to our needs. To all new prospective students, a complimentary 15 minute session is available for booking. I look forward to helping you achieve all your academic goals.
