I am a current fourth year medical student at Wake Forest University School of Medicine. I earned an M.S. in Medical Physiology at Case Western Reserve University and a B.A. in Biological Sciences at Cornell University with a minor in Psychology and concentration in Animal Physiology. I have tutored elementary to high school students. I also have experience tutoring college students. My areas of expertise include math up to 9th grade, biology, anatomy and physiology, psychology, grammar, and reading and writing. My favorite part of teaching is watching my students gradually improve on skills and concepts that they struggle with. That "aha!" moment truly is priceless. I recognize that everyone learns differently, and I have always worked to tailor my teaching style to what is most effective for my student. I come up with fun and creative ways of learning and remembering material, and genuinely want to see students succeed!

My name is Kelly! I graduated from Nova Southeastern University with a Bachelor's of Science in Biological Sciences with a 3.7 GPA (Cum Laude). I have been tutoring various math students over the past 4 years and love being able to provide students with new ways to learn material. At Florida Atlantic University, I was a volunteer for the Office of Students with Disabilities and a Tutor for The Center of Learning and Student Success where I helped college students in mathematics. Throughout my time there, I also tutored middle school students in Pre-Algebra, Algebra, and Geometry. Not only do I have a passion for learning, but I am incredibly dedicated to the success and ability of others to preform well and improve their grades. Whether the students I work with have a disability, need extra attention, or just simply do not understand the material, I always find a way to communicate to them in an effective and kind manner that allows the student to feel comfortable in the learning environment. Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1 (Algebra 1 EOC Perfect Score Recipient), Geometry, and Biology Office of Students with Disabilities Florida Atlantic University Volunteer for those with various learning and behavioral disabilities, including ADD, ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and Asperger syndrome (AD).

I have studied Latin and Greek for a number of years now and have acquired qualifications including a gcse and a self taught A level in Latin [OCR] as well as the NLE introduction to Latin exam. I am happy to teach adults and children from seven years up [I can teach up to four children within a family] . My aim is to help the learner get a firm grasp on the fundamental basics of the language, taking them through and helping them memorise the grammatical concepts, and providing , if the learner wishes, exercises to help with translating. A free introductory lesson is available in which I can give the learner an idea of how the lessons could be structured.

After seven years of teaching test prep at all levels and three additional years teaching sixth grade math within New York's charter school system, I've decided I'd actually like to do what I'm best at: help people learn! While I'm more than happy to help you reach your goals on a standardized test, I don't want to have to use materials that I don't think are well suited to that test simply because they are the materials provided by the service I happen to work for. Although I'm excited to help young scholars realize that maybe middle school math isn't quite as tough as they thought, I cannot do that when I have to use a curriculum that makes every step of the math more difficult. Therefore, I've decided to start a new chapter in my career by providing my services freelance. I have a variety of talents, interests, and experience, which I strongly feel make me a well-rounded, seasoned educator. Typically, services that I have worked for have charged anything from $69-$189 per hour for test prep or even homework help, often sending in a tutor with less experience than myself (I know, I used to be that less experienced tutor). As I gain a client base and learn the ropes of providing my expertise without the support of a traditional tutoring service, I'm offering the same level of knowledge (and most likely more personality) for **less than half the price** of a traditional service. Let's learn together!

I am a passionate and successful private tutor. Positive former student outcomes include raising my private student’s grade from F to C for his final GCSE English Lit and Lang grade. My private ESL student made significant improvements in her English, improving from an absolute beginner to beginner level. Her level of English impressed her social worker and her foster carer.

Tell me what your goals are, and I will show you how to make them happen! I've worked in the public schools teaching 7th to 12th grade students for 4 years. After that I worked 3 years in Adult Basic Education, helping to prepare students for the GED test. For the past 6 months I have been tutoring privately in ELA, Math, and LSAT test prep. I'm experienced with many different ages, subjects, and backgrounds, including incarcerated adult students. My own educational background is in Philosophy. I possess a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Central Florida. In 2016, I graduated from San Diego State University's Teacher Credential Program with a subject matter certification in English and Social Studies. In addition, I have extensive training in developmental learning theories specific to one-on-one tutoring. Depending on the needs of the student, I will come prepared with a structured lesson plan, always with the expectation that plans are flexible. The student is free to bring to the lesson any work that they have questions with. When working with younger students, I will use different techniques to keep them engaged, including allowing them to get up and work out problems on the white board. Ideally, the best way to teach something is to prove to the student that it is true. So for geometry concepts, I will rely on visual and tactile demonstrations wherever possible, including by bringing in models of cylinders and cones. Some of the most common lessons I teach are writing lessons on how to 'show, not tell' and reading lessons to guide students through advanced texts such as Shakespeare. My lessons will conclude with homework assignments, either vocabulary words or practice problems to encourage independent practice. Students can always review a lesson summary I provide after each lesson. I can provide online sessions anywhere in the world. But also, if you are looking for an in person session in the San Diego county area, I am your guy.

**The first 30 minute session is always free.** As a pre-med student who has been tutoring others and has been receiving tutoring in various subjects since middle school, I know what it feels like to be the student and I know the most effective teaching methods, simplifying the information so that it is never daunting for students. I take my time with each student and would prefer that you fully understand a few topics, rather than incompletely understand every topic we originally set out to cover. I teach biology on all levels from elementary to university intro-bio course level. I can tutor specifically for topics you have difficulty with on case-by-case bases/or one-time sessions; or I can regularly tutor you each week for any biology course. Additionally, I can teach the full AP Biology course, provided there is enough time between our first session and the exam (I would recommend around a 12 months, as the AP Biology course is equivalent to a two-semester college introductory biology course for biology majors). For sessions of this nature, I will work with you to develop a comprehensive schedule (taking into account your school life and other commitments) that will allow us to cover everything and still leave time for AP practice tests. I have taken multiple AP exams in the past, earning AP scholar awards for my performance, thus I have extensive knowledge of what is needed to score a five.
