I approach the topic according to the students understanding and customize it according to their personal needs. I encourage students to practice what I have taught in the lesson by giving them homework and then ask questions or any difficulties that they might have come across, before moving on to the next topic.

I served as the departmental tutorial coordinator for a full year during my undergraduate studies where I worked with students of different abilities mainly on mathematics related courses, increasing their knowledge and confidence in these courses. I patiently work my students through difficult mathematical concepts, using everyday activities to explain these concepts, helping him/her to have a deeper understanding of the subject matter and increasing his/her overall confidence in the subject.

If students are having trouble understanding a concept, my strategy is to show them the problem using a different method. All students have different learning styles, so it is my goal to find a method that works for them. I have experience tutoring students as young as fifth graders to college algebra. I am currently working towards my teaching credential and Master’s degree through an online school, so I’m familiar with computers and typing math text online.

Hello! I'm a college student in my last year of my Bachelor's in Education - Math, and my teaching style is focused on the understanding of the concepts rather than just the procedural knowledge of the math. It's very student-oriented so I try to be responsive to what the student needs depending on their current understanding of math and the math level they're on right now. Contact me for a free 30 minute session!

I'm Emily! I am a junior in college, majoring in Mathematics with a minor in Biology. I have been tutoring for two years, with experience ranging from elementary school students (in public school as well as home-schooled) to those in college. In high school, I worked as a teaching assistant in a study skills class, which focused on how students could study for their math class. This gave me the opportunity to work one-on-one with students who struggled with their math skills. When I helped them out, my focus was to improve their core basic math skills. Math is a foundational subject, meaning that one topic is the foundation for another. Throughout my time in college, I have tutored students that are struggling in Pre-Calculus, Calculus, and Algebra. I have also helped students with elementary math through the Salvation Army. When I volunteered there, I observed that students had the most fun when they could apply math to a real-world situation (i.e. addition and subtraction with pennies and dimes). Asking questions is the first step on the path to success. Any suggestions are helpful; your input helps me be the best tutor for you. I am easy to reach and will provide quick responses. Feel free to contact me with additional questions or to schedule a lesson!
