Howdy – I’m Scott. I’m a decidedly non-traditional medical student who didn’t learn how to study effectively until I was an adult, and I wouldn’t be where I am today without the help of tutors! You might have some amazing teachers or professors, but it’s unlikely they’ll all present course material in a way that works for you. If you aren’t getting the results you’re expecting, it’s time to find a new approach that will get you where you want to be. I have experience tutoring teenage to adult learners in a broad range of science topics, from basic chemistry to anatomy and physiology. Whether you are just trying to meet graduation requirements or preparing for a career in science or medicine, my goal is to help you develop the skills of a lifelong learner and make myself redundant as soon as possible. We will find the styles of learning that complement your strengths and use those methods to develop in any areas you find more challenging. My background: After graduating with a degree in Information Technology, I initially worked in the entertainment industry training professional video editors before transitioning to medical education. From 2008-2012, I taught clinical skills to medical students at UCSF and the University of Minnesota. From 2013-2020, I worked full-time in clinical research at the University of Colorado. I self-studied to score >90th percentile on my first MCAT attempt and just completed my first year of medical school.

Hello, my name is Kathrine Wiberg and I am a Science Tutor and AQA Examiner. I have been a qualified teacher for 4 years and have recently become an Online Tutor full time. I chose to do Online tutoring full time as I find it is more rewarding to see each student achieve their goals. I teach all 3 sciences to GCSE level and I teach A-level Biology and Physics. I am passionate about tutoring and strive to help your son/daughter excel in their Science exams. I have a friendly and relaxed approach to teaching and always try to make my students feel comfortable enough to get involved. I have been tutoring online and 1-1 for 3 years now. I offer a range of styles in my teaching that allows the student to get involved with the lesson. This may include: labeling diagrams, creating a flow chart, completing a graph, correcting mistakes in a method e.t.c. I have recently become an online tutor full time. This is giving me more time to make outstanding lessons for my 1-1 students. I can spend more time making sure that each student is getting the best education possible and be able to achieve grades they could not manage in a school environment. Closer to exams, I show students how to answer exam questions. I am an examiner at AQA so I understand what the examiners are looking for and can help students with exam techniques.

**The first 30 minute session is always free.** As a pre-med student who has been tutoring others and has been receiving tutoring in various subjects since middle school, I know what it feels like to be the student and I know the most effective teaching methods, simplifying the information so that it is never daunting for students. I take my time with each student and would prefer that you fully understand a few topics, rather than incompletely understand every topic we originally set out to cover. I teach biology on all levels from elementary to university intro-bio course level. I can tutor specifically for topics you have difficulty with on case-by-case bases/or one-time sessions; or I can regularly tutor you each week for any biology course. Additionally, I can teach the full AP Biology course, provided there is enough time between our first session and the exam (I would recommend around a 12 months, as the AP Biology course is equivalent to a two-semester college introductory biology course for biology majors). For sessions of this nature, I will work with you to develop a comprehensive schedule (taking into account your school life and other commitments) that will allow us to cover everything and still leave time for AP practice tests. I have taken multiple AP exams in the past, earning AP scholar awards for my performance, thus I have extensive knowledge of what is needed to score a five.

Hi there! I'm a 23 year-old graduate with a 1st Class Masters in Chemistry & Physics, with hundreds of hours experience in tutoring. Having had students from London to Sydney, Zurich to Singapore, and Geneve to Shenzen, I can rely on 4 years of experience and up-to-date knowledge of exam specifications to provide pupils with a tailored education. Why I Chose STEM Science is the future. STEM qualifications open the door to new career opportunities and could lead to a job in a decade which doesn't even exist today. My Approach to Tutoring Science The bigger picture should come before the details. Time spent trying to build on weak foundations is wasted; one is better served looking at the underlying science. A student can fill in any gaps later. An issue with classroom learning is the one-size-fits-all approach. A method for connecting the dots which works for one person might not for the next; teachers simply don't have time to discuss a concept from various angles. For me, a multi-faceted approach is the best way to build a concrete understanding. Learn how to go about tackling new problems. While there's no substitute for practice, the approach is key. Don't panic - new problems are far less daunting once broken into steps. Remember, exams generally ask you to 'jump through hoops' - there are only so many questions they can serve up! With some work, public examinations won't seem such a headache.

Hi there! My name is Herbert Ortiz, but I often go by Herb. I am currently a Math and Physics double major at New York University. While I spend a lot of time in class and studying, my math doesn't stop there. I often spend my time tutoring whenever and whoever I can, doing Putnam-style math problems, and just engaging in general math research(nothing serious, just casual learning of things that are not taught in the classroom). During my High School career, I tutored elementary and Intermediate school students in both Math and Science. This ranged from elementary math and science, all the way to basic Earth Science and Algebra 1. I also tutored my fellow high school students. I am able to tutor whoever wants to in the subjects listed in my profile below. With my tutee, I try to make sure they get to see the beauty and art behind math, which often gets lost within the classroom. I also try to make sure I provide a judgment-free zone, where tutees can feel like they ask any question without feeling dumb or stupid. I will also make sure I try to make sure I get them to understand as much as possible about the material during our time together. Lastly, I will do whatever in my power I can to make sure we just have fun with math! I look forward to tutoring with you soon! :)

I'm a lecturer in math in an engineering college in France. I'm also a specialist online tutor in mathematics. I received my PhD in mathematics from Rutgers University, USA , and held postdoc positions in reputed institutions in France (Ecole Polytechnique, INRIA) and USA (UCLA). I love to share my passion for mathematics, statistics and machine learning with my students, by means of tutoring, seminars, talks etc. Being an expert in the subject, I can teach/tutor any level - this means from precalculus to linear algebra, group theory, differential equations and many more! Besides mathematics, I also teach English as a second language (ESL). My specialties include: 1. My familiarity with all level of mathematics, thanks to my doctorate in the subject. 2. My teaching experience in large (roughly 30-40 students per class) and small (one to two students) group settings. 3. My effective visualization process with charts, diagrams, and tables to make things easy for the students. 4. I'm well equipped for tutoring online, as I've done it before and effectively. I've a graphics tablet where I can write and the writings appear on the screen, which can be shared with students. 6. I'm a specialist in motivating the students to learn a new concept, for example, negative numbers, group theory or functional analysis. I've worked in industry for 2 years, so I've seen a lot of these concepts being used in real life, so I can help motivate on why (s)he is learning a new concept.

After seven years of teaching test prep at all levels and three additional years teaching sixth grade math within New York's charter school system, I've decided I'd actually like to do what I'm best at: help people learn! While I'm more than happy to help you reach your goals on a standardized test, I don't want to have to use materials that I don't think are well suited to that test simply because they are the materials provided by the service I happen to work for. Although I'm excited to help young scholars realize that maybe middle school math isn't quite as tough as they thought, I cannot do that when I have to use a curriculum that makes every step of the math more difficult. Therefore, I've decided to start a new chapter in my career by providing my services freelance. I have a variety of talents, interests, and experience, which I strongly feel make me a well-rounded, seasoned educator. Typically, services that I have worked for have charged anything from $69-$189 per hour for test prep or even homework help, often sending in a tutor with less experience than myself (I know, I used to be that less experienced tutor). As I gain a client base and learn the ropes of providing my expertise without the support of a traditional tutoring service, I'm offering the same level of knowledge (and most likely more personality) for **less than half the price** of a traditional service. Let's learn together!
