Hi there! I am a physics masters candidate at York university studying nano-satellite engineering. I finished my honors bachelors of astrophysics at McMaster university in April of 2023. I love physics and math, and I strongly believe having a teacher who loves what they do is extremely influential on a student's success. I am a member of the physics instructor's journal group and was an executive of the undergraduate physics society at McMaster. My tutoring practice is queer, trans, and disability inclusive. Unlike many other tutors who have been successful through all of high school, I struggled with my early academic career. During the end of my second year of university, I had the opportunity to get help from an extremely passionate teaching assistant, who changed my view on math from a "challenging, boring" subject to something which I have become deeply interested in. With my newfound love for the material, I worked my way up to finishing my 4th year with a 3.92/4.0 GPA. This makes me uniquely qualified to be a tutor - I am familiar with the feeling of being lost when it comes to math and physics, and I know what it takes to turn that around. I hope to be the inspiration for you to not only excel at math and physics, but to enjoy it as well. I have been told by former students that I am very good at breaking down complicated subjects using analogies and deconstructions, and then building back up to the more difficult material. I have developed techniques to ensure that I avoid the small errors that many physics students are prone to, tricks to easily verify your answers, and methods to quickly trace where any errors come from if your answer doesn't check out. My life's goal is to teach physics and astronomy. I am seeking further education to someday become a professor in the field, so I can continue to teach and share the beautiful world of math and physics, and so that I can conduct my own research.

Hi! I am a patient, benevolent and enthusiastic tutor, whose aim is to offer you a dedicated friendly space in which to practice or learn french. The most difficult thing while studying a new language is to feel confident enough to dare speak it and make mistakes : this is why I will encourage you to express yourself, giving you lots of tips in the process! Feeling confident and at ease is a must when learning another language, hence my dedication to create a safe space for you to navigate in, explore French, and discover your abilities in the meantime - with the right tutoring, anyone can speak French easily! Here is a little about me, and my teaching methods : I have always been passionate about languages - hence teaching French while doing a PhD written in English! I taught French as a Foreign Language to different types of students, from beginners to advanced, immigrants wanting to work in France or young American students in need of quick conversational and writing skills. I love getting to know my students, learning about their specific interests, sharing parts of our cultures and communicating my love for the French language! Making mistakes is not shameful, on the contrary: making mistakes is what allows you to progress, to learn. My aim is to give you the keys to use these mistakes to improve your skills, and to overcome any linguistic difficulty you may find. Being in the process of writing my Comparative Literature PhD in English, I do know how difficult it can be to master another language, which is why I offer you the best guidance throughout your French learning journey, drawing from my own experience as a language learner. Aloha, friend! My name is Lucas Jarrett, and I’m an online tutor! If I had to characterize my approach to helping people learn in simple terms, I would say that I believe education is a matter of teaching adaptability. The ability to adapt, or the capacity to change, is the fundamental skill of learning all things. We must always be prepared to adopt new ways of being. When we study life, we study the infinite; and when we study the infinite, our mindsets must be similar, or else we will not see everything that we could have seen. To realize that learning is the art of changing is to begin learning everything more easily. My primary goal is to help my students see and apply this awareness when studying anything they hope to do well. I have professional experience teaching many subjects, including arithmetic, algebra, trigonometry, geometry, philosophy, biology, history, psychology, music, billiards, writing, research, literature, English, Java, Python, HTML, CSS, SQL, and more. Furthermore, I’m happy to offer insight into cognitive habits that often bring academic trouble, such as perfectionism, motivation, inattention, depression, and anxiety. I do not limit my educational strategies to any single methodology; I believe that every individual has a unique path in life, and I therefore work to be responsive to the specific, immediate needs of my students. Context is everything. If I'm trying to help a student become a better reader and writer, I may recommend that we explore good literature together; if I am helping someone prepare for a test in geometry, good practice problems and instructional resources will likely be part of the process. I tutor many subjects not listed here, so feel free to ask about anything! If I know how to help in a reasonable timeframe, I will help! 🙂 Note: I offer discounts to people who have financial need or pay in bulk. Please feel free to contact me directly to discuss options if my posted rate is beyond your budget!

My name is Dr. Danisha T. I am deeply passionate about assisting graduate students in their writing journey. My extensive experience in academic writing, from capstone to dissertation to discussion posts and literature reviews, has made the writing process enjoyable for me and resulted in over 99% of my papers receiving A's. This wealth of experience instills confidence in my ability to guide and support you in your academic writing endeavors. I edited and proofread all my group projects in grad school. My classmates were impressed that I could combine multiple writing styles and create a singular paper with one voice. One of the challenges many students face is creating work that reflects their voice and having a personal writing process. Understanding the challenges and the right approach for the dissertation project can be daunting. However, I believe my personal experiences and the assistance I've provided to others during this arduous process can be of great help. I understand the struggles and can provide the support and guidance you need to write your academic papers. I have a master's degree in psychology from Walden University, focusing on crisis management and response. I also have a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Walden University with close to 3000 hours of clinical practice. I'm also a registered nurse (MSN, BSN) with 20 years of experience in psychology/psychiatry, critical care, and management. Also, I have over a decade of writing, editing, and proofreading experience. I have written research papers, a capstone, and a dissertation; thus, I understand the challenges of picking a topic and finding the gap. Having been in your shoes, I can assure you that there is light at the end of the tunnel. You can reach your academic and professional goals with hard work, dedication, and guidance. I am here to support you, and I am confident that you will succeed. So, reach out to me now, and let's navigate your journey through grad school together!

School tutoring ($70/hour): For school students, I offer tutoring on a range of science and math subjects. I have had experience tutoring students from year 2 students with learning difficulties all the way up to high-performing extension mathematics students in year 12. I specialize in undergraduate Math, but also frequently tutor Physics, Economics, Taxation, and English/Writing. I love Math & always hope that my enthusiasm/encouragement can help students, whether they are looking to progress in Math or just complete their required courses. I have found that all students will hit a group of Mathematical concepts that just do not click, whether it is early in K-12 or not until 3rd-4th year university level Math. It can be very frustrating, especially when it is difficult or even impossible to obtain the necessary help from teachers, campus tutors, etc. The primary goal of hiring a tutor is to receive individualized assistance & a customized approach. That is why I tailor my explanations to each student's learning style. For instance, some students prefer that I look over their work & just give them hints when they get stuck. Other students prefer to provide me with specific questions they are stuck on, & have me show them as a tutorial. I particularly try to focus on the underlying concepts & provide the student with context as to how each concept matters. Far too often, students are told to do things a certain way, but they are not told why nor even how it pertains overall. I have a BS in Mathematics from Stockton University. During college, I developed study groups in Partial Diff Eq, Engineering Graphics, & Adv Discrete Math. I was also Treasurer of Stockton's Math Club, which focused primarily on assisting local students & hosted an annual Math Mayhem competition between 12 N.J. High Schools.

I am currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Political Science at UCLA and have a strong background in English, History, and Japanese. I am also proficient in K-8 math and science and have previous tutoring experience in these subjects. My experience includes both one-on-one and classroom settings, as well as volunteer experience. In English, I have a deep passion for language and literature, and I am fully proficient in both written and spoken English. I have completed two semester-long research projects that required me to analyze and synthesize complex texts and communicate my findings effectively in writing and speech. My skills in critical thinking and analysis, combined with my ability to communicate complex ideas clearly, make me an effective tutor for students of all levels. In History, I have been nominated for an award by my high school teacher for my exceptional performance and passion for the subject. I have experience creating engaging presentations on historical topics and enjoy exploring different cultures and time periods through the lens of history. As a tutor, I can help students improve their research skills, develop a deeper understanding of historical events, and prepare for exams with confidence. In Japanese, my experience attending Japanese heritage schools for 10 years, tutoring students in Japanese language during Japanese club, and being fully proficient in hiragana, katakana, and kanji has given me a deep appreciation for the intricacies of Japanese language and culture. As a tutor, I can help students master the basics of Japanese language, develop cultural competency, and gain a greater appreciation for the rich history and traditions of Japan. Overall, my combination of educational background, previous tutoring/teaching experience, and contextual details such as the ages of students and the setting of my teaching experience make me an ideal candidate for tutoring in English, History, and Japanese, as well as K-8 math and science.
