About
I am a research scientist with 8 years of experience teaching biochemistry, genetics, cell and molecular biology both to undergraduates and graduate students.
While an undergraduate studying at the University of Florida, I received my training in protein production and purification for rational drug design and drug discovery from the only national cancer institute in the state of Florida, the H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center & Research Complex.
Thereafter, I worked as a staff scientist at The Emerging Pathogens Institute while I finished my undergraduate degree. Here, I studied infectious diseases, such as listeria monocytogenes and shigella flexneri.
As an undergraduate, I taught in several capacities: Instructor in the Department of Medicine; Instructor in the Microbiology Department; Supplemental Instructor for biochemistry; and as a TA in microbiology.
In addition, I have tutored over 100 students for nearly 2,000 hours in total from chemistry, biology, physics, biochemistry and statistics.
I can teach you textbook principles with real world example to assist you to gain and enrich your understanding. I draw on years of research experience to provide concrete examples and contextualize the background that can be difficult to discern from simply reading a textbook. I am patient and understand everybody learns differently. I can present and discuss scientific concepts from myriad perspectives to help you get to that “Aha!” moment.
