About
I have a B.Sc. in Neuroscience and Mental Health from Carleton University, Ontario, Canada, with dual minors in Biology and Chemistry. I graduated with the Faculty of Science University Medal, meaning I had the highest graduating GPA in the Faculty of Science. I worked during my entire university career in neuroscience labs dedicated to neurodegenerative disease (such as Parkinson's disease and ALS) and received multiple research awards. I was also selected for a prestigious internship at University of Toronto. I have extensive knowledge and passion for neuroscience and the adjacent sciences, but I also have a great deal of hands-on experience in the lab applying neuroscientific techniques. This gives me a foundation beyond classroom knowledge. I previously taught virtual STEM classes to students aged 10-18, so I am very comfortable with virtual tutoring.

This degree provided a broad education in molecular and cellular neuroscience; systems neuroscience; sensory neuroscience; neuroanatomy; and cellular biology. My minors in Biology and Chemistry rounded out my learning in these three connected disciplines.

I teach virtual STEM classes (neuroscience, chemistry, biology, biochemistry, and anatomy) to students from grades 5 to 12. In this role, I was responsible for creating all content and course outlines; this has helps me develops the skills needed to teach others.
Amgen
May 2021 - August 2021Amgen Scholar
I participated in a summer internship at the University of Toronto, hosted by Amgen Canada. In this role, I assisted graduate students in their ALS research and completed my own research project into the cellular etiology of ALS. I became familiar with statistical modelling and the use of ImageJ in microscopy.

In this role, I assisted graduate students with their research in Parkinson's disease, stress and depression. I became experienced in techniques such as western blots and microscopy. I worked in the lab intermittedly for three years.
