I have a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, and spent 6 years tutoring math and whatever else I was asked for in a community college walk in tutoring lab. Math remedial through third semester calculus, including business calculus, statistics, and both calculus based and non calculus based physics.

I looked at applications, found documentation to show an invention was or was not new, and wrote letters telling inventors why they could or couldn't have a patent. I also held interviews with inventors and attorneys explaining when a change to an application would make it patentable, and other interviews explaining why it wasn't patentable.

mostly time in the walk in math lab. Because it's a community college, I helped with math remedial through calculus, and also physics, chemistry, and once even astronomy, because the science lab had a lot more subjects to cover and I saw no reason not to help whoever asked.
