Hello. My name is Emi. I am a native Japanese speaker and currently live in Tokyo.
I have a university degree in economics and have worked for over 20 years in several companies. In my mid-30s, I joined an art college and completed a master's degree in Art Studies. Currently, I am working in an office while enrolled in a graduate program, where I am writing my doctoral thesis on Spanish painting.
Based on my experience, I can teach Japanese in daily conversation, business, and academic contexts. I can help you improve your ability to use correct Japanese and honorific expressions in daily life, at the office, as well as your reading comprehension , conversation, and writing expression. And ultimately, I would be glad if you could freely express your thoughts and opinions in Japanese, and enjoy richer Japanese conversation and Japanese culture.
It takes time to master a new language. You need to keep on studying steadily and continuously, and it is important to stay motivated to do so. (I am currently learning Spanish, so I understand how hard it is.) So, to make the lessons enjoyable, we use not only textbooks, but also videos and reading material adapted to your interests. To tailor the lessons to you, firstly please tell me about your purpose for learning Japanese, your current level as well as your interests or hobbies, etc.
I teach in Japanese, but I speak English(although not fluently), so you can use English if you find it difficult to express yourself in Japanese. I hope you can relax and enjoy the lessons.
Finally, academic situations, such as university courses, require different vocabulary, expressions, and reading comprehension skills than at the everyday conversational level. Please let me know if you need this training. It is also possible to offer lessons using academic texts and discussion exercises.
