Need help with math, language, logic, science, or technology? I'm here for you!

Aloha, friend! My name is Lucas Jarrett, and I’m an online tutor! If I had to characterize my approach to helping people learn in simple terms, I would say that I believe education is a matter of teaching adaptability. The ability to adapt, or the capacity to change, is the fundamental skill of learning all things. We must always be prepared to adopt new ways of being. When we study life, we study the infinite; and when we study the infinite, our mindsets must be similar, or else we will not see everything that we could have seen. To realize that learning is the art of changing is to begin learning everything more easily. My primary goal is to help my students see and apply this awareness when studying anything they hope to do well. I have professional experience teaching many subjects, including arithmetic, algebra, trigonometry, geometry, philosophy, biology, history, psychology, music, billiards, writing, research, literature, English, Java, Python, HTML, CSS, SQL, and more. Furthermore, I’m happy to offer insight into cognitive habits that often bring academic trouble, such as perfectionism, motivation, inattention, depression, and anxiety. I do not limit my educational strategies to any single methodology; I believe that every individual has a unique path in life, and I therefore work to be responsive to the specific, immediate needs of my students. Context is everything. If I'm trying to help a student become a better reader and writer, I may recommend that we explore good literature together; if I am helping someone prepare for a test in geometry, good practice problems and instructional resources will likely be part of the process. I tutor many subjects not listed here, so feel free to ask about anything! If I know how to help in a reasonable timeframe, I will help! 🙂 Note: I offer discounts to people who have financial need or pay in bulk. Please feel free to contact me directly to discuss options if my posted rate is beyond your budget!

Enthusiastic Physics and Mathematics Tutor - Physics PhD Student

Hi there, and welcome! I'm a PhD student in Physics at Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario. Prior to this, I got my Master's of Mathematics at the University of Waterloo in Applied Math, and a Bachelor of Mathematics studying Mathematical Physics. My research interests are at the intersection of astrophysics, particle physics, cosmology, and gravitational waves. I have been tutoring students since high school as a volunteer peer tutor in math and physics, and decided to continue tutoring throughout university. At the University of Waterloo I was a private tutor for several courses (see below), where I helped several students improve their academic performances. I've also been a teaching assistant for many courses at both the University of Waterloo and Queen's University (see below), and was awarded an Outstanding TA Award for my contributions. If you're struggling in your classes, or if you just want to deepen your understanding of physics and mathematics, then you've come to the right place! Please don't hesitate to reach out if you had any questions! ---------- To see if we'd be a good fit, the first 15 minutes of the first session is free! After that we can decide whether to continue working together.

Tutor with 15 years experience specializing in STEM

I'm an actor and engineering graduate living in Toronto. Learning doesn't have to be boring! I employ a laid back, communicative approach to knowledge transference! I've taught in both classroom settings and one-on-one. I was a peer tutor throughout high school and worked as a teacher delivering STEM topics to elementary and high school students as far North as the Arctic Circle. Most recently I've tutored on a one-on-one basis for high school students in the GTA. Let me know if you need any help in the STEM field!

Expert Science, Math and Business Tutor – 5 Years of Proven Success!

I am an economics student with more than 5 years of experience in private tutoring. I have a strong academic background and have consistently achieved straight A's in Science, Math, and Economics. From a young age, I have been passionate about teaching. My experiences have taught me that teaching is not just about possessing great knowledge; it is an art of transferring that knowledge from one brain to another. I believe in starting from scratch and ensuring a solid understanding of the basics. By the end of my course, you will be amazed at your ability to solve problems independently. I am open to working with students of all calibres and have experience teaching kids from various countries. My Personalised Approach I start by getting to know the student, understanding the reasons for their performance, and organising tailored revision plans specific to their needs. In my experience, the majority of students require guidance in exam technique and an in-depth look at core concepts. I have also found that students in competitive environments can feel demoralised and lose faith in their abilities under pressure. However, with the right encouragement and teaching, students show remarkable progress and go on to achieve top grades One of the main reasons for my excellent track record is my close attention to my clients and providing excellent guidance. Through high-level lesson plans, flexibility, and a good understanding of my students, I help them achieve their potential. As a tutor, my role is not just to teach but also to provide students with emotional support and guidance, which leads to significant improvements in their learning. My focus is always on each individual's needs, and in this way, I have helped numerous students make sense of subjects that were previously a mystery to them. Both parents and pupils alike have described me as 'enthusiastic,' 'passionate,' and 'inspiring' – a reflection of the energy and professionalism I bring to all of my sessions.

Drexel University College of Medicine, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute

MD Student and Published Researcher with >90th Percentile MCAT

Howdy – I’m Scott. I’m a decidedly non-traditional medical student who didn’t learn how to study effectively until I was an adult, and I wouldn’t be where I am today without the help of tutors! You might have some amazing teachers or professors, but it’s unlikely they’ll all present course material in a way that works for you. If you aren’t getting the results you’re expecting, it’s time to find a new approach that will get you where you want to be. I have experience tutoring teenage to adult learners in a broad range of science topics, from basic chemistry to anatomy and physiology. Whether you are just trying to meet graduation requirements or preparing for a career in science or medicine, my goal is to help you develop the skills of a lifelong learner and make myself redundant as soon as possible. We will find the styles of learning that complement your strengths and use those methods to develop in any areas you find more challenging. My background: After graduating with a degree in Information Technology, I initially worked in the entertainment industry training professional video editors before transitioning to medical education. From 2008-2012, I taught clinical skills to medical students at UCSF and the University of Minnesota. From 2013-2020, I worked full-time in clinical research at the University of Colorado. I self-studied to score >90th percentile on my first MCAT attempt and just completed my first year of medical school.

I’m especially proficient in areas of study that involve English, writing, literature, and grammar.

I’m a freshman at Michigan State University studying to get my degree in English with a focus in secondary education, meaning I’ll get the normal English degree but will also be getting a license to teach in the state of Michigan. In my senior year of high school, I was a mentor in a ninth grade English class, where I graded papers, occasionally planned and taught my own lessons, and helped students with understanding the course material. I also often help my two youngest siblings, ages 5 and 6, respectively, with their schoolwork. While my best subject is English, I was an A student throughout high school and am very confident in my ability to successfully tutor other subjects. I’m looking forward to any opportunity to tutor!
