I'm currently pursuing my graduate degree in Chemical Engineering and Applied Chemistry from the University of Toronto. I completed my Bachelors of Technology in Chemical Engineering from VIT University, India. Throughout my undergrad, I have been a core and later on a board member of AIChE, during which I have participated in quite a few K-12 events that involved going to schools around my university and teaching STEM subjects to the students there. Though, I have a number of favorite subjects, Maths, English, Physics and History are among the ones I feel most confident about mainly because these have been favorites since school. I believe that when it comes to grasping difficult concepts notably in physics and mathematics, there are multiple ways to make it look elementary, then the learning process becomes much easier and faster. In my opinion, with the world advancing at a rapid rate, the importance of education is clearly very evident and so is the act of gaining and imparting knowledge as it allows us to comprehend and question all that is happening around us. I try to utilize my free time by watching anime, reading some fiction and listening to true crime podcasts.

I like to see when my students say, "Yes! I have done it". Having successfully cracked competitive and entrance exams, i can empathize with the struggles and pressure one faces in his/her studies, especially during preparation for competitive entrance exams. During my own preparation, graduation (from IIT Kharagpur in Electrical Department), working in corporate world and teaching wide ranges of students, I have learnt lot of techniques which can ease your preparation and make it very organised. I can teach Maths for grade 6 to 12 and train them for competitive exams like IIT JEE (Mains and Advanced), SAT, Olympiads, BITSAT and other Engineering Entrance exams. I can teach A-level and AP Maths also. The teaching process I follow is: 1) Explain why we are learning a concept and teach it with practical and relevant examples which helps them to learn the main funda of the subject and not just cram formulas. 2) Application of the concept to solve questions (including some previous years board and JEE) 3) Give some questions and problems to the students to get familiar with the concept and application 4) Be available for helping them individually if they face problem anywhere 5) Encourage, inspire and support the students, whenever needed. Learning is fun and adventurous. Students are comfortable with me and see me as a good friend, subject expert and guide than a strict teacher.

While there, I collaborated with Zambian colleagues at the grassroots level to increase rural awareness of preventive health measures to protect against malaria and other common diseases. Upon my return to the US from Africa, I began tutoring, and continued to do so as I worked my way through medical school. I, in turn, teach students these techniques, thus helping them retain what they have learned. I graduated from medical school in 2017 and continued tutoring, now with an additional focus on coaching. I believe this is what makes me unique as a tutor. I help students define goals, establish habits, and create systems that support good habits. We troubleshoot as difficulties maintaining habits arise, and modify our approach accordingly. I love helping students find their talents and translate them into career paths, including helping students find and apply for relevant programs of study, and finding professionals in those fields to advise and inspire. My medical knowledge, specifically my interest in mental health and how it contributes to academic & other success, also informs my work with students.
