Hi, this is Heena! I am currently doing an MSc in Public Policy and Management at The University of Manchester. I achieved 8A* and 2As in my GCSE O-Levels in all science subjects and scored an A* in Mathematics and As in Physics and Biology in A-levels. I have been teaching GCSE Maths since appearing for my A-Levels, which has allowed me to develop a fantastic grasp on not only the material but the best way to convey it! I am a fun-loving, friendly person with a pleasant demeanor. My optimistic nature helps me develop a rapport with all my students, making learning all the more enjoyable for us. The general framework that I use, tweak and personalize for each student is as follows: 1. Gauging the student’s current ability 2. Developing a schedule/timetable with concrete milestones with input from the student 3. Theory-based learning 4. Practice 5. Some more practice! My go-to method to help students is past paper practice, as it allows us to cover a broad range of topics, learn exam-specific tips and tricks and, more importantly, build the student's confidence in their ability to solve an actual exam. Sticking to recent past papers ensures that our learning meets the latest requirement and is specific to the student's exam board and tier. Aloha, friend! My name is Lucas Jarrett, and I’m an online tutor! If I had to characterize my approach to helping people learn in simple terms, I would say that I believe education is a matter of teaching adaptability. The ability to adapt, or the capacity to change, is the fundamental skill of learning all things. We must always be prepared to adopt new ways of being. When we study life, we study the infinite; and when we study the infinite, our mindsets must be similar, or else we will not see everything that we could have seen. To realize that learning is the art of changing is to begin learning everything more easily. My primary goal is to help my students see and apply this awareness when studying anything they hope to do well. I have professional experience teaching many subjects, including arithmetic, algebra, trigonometry, geometry, philosophy, biology, history, psychology, music, billiards, writing, research, literature, English, Java, Python, HTML, CSS, SQL, and more. Furthermore, I’m happy to offer insight into cognitive habits that often bring academic trouble, such as perfectionism, motivation, inattention, depression, and anxiety. I do not limit my educational strategies to any single methodology; I believe that every individual has a unique path in life, and I therefore work to be responsive to the specific, immediate needs of my students. Context is everything. If I'm trying to help a student become a better reader and writer, I may recommend that we explore good literature together; if I am helping someone prepare for a test in geometry, good practice problems and instructional resources will likely be part of the process.
