Hi, my name is Jack. I am a passionate tutor and medical student at the University of Melbourne.
I graduated high school in 2019 with an ATAR of 98 and have been tutoring high school math and science for coming up on 6 years now (both HSC and VCE). I have tutored students with a range of abilities and learning styles and enjoy adapting my methods of teaching to best suit the student and help them find success.
I am most confident in tutoring students for the following high school subjects (particularly year 11/12):
- Math methods / Advanced mathematics / Math extension 1
- Chemistry
- Biology
One of the most important things I have learned during my pathway to medicine is how to study effectively and efficiently. I not only want to help my students learn the content, but also find an appreciation for learning. Some of the study techniques I employ myself and encourage my students to utilise involve:
- Spaced repetition
- Active recall
- Pomodoro technique
- Minimising passive study
- Examination techniques
These study techniques I continue to use and refine today in order to succeed in medical school.
I conduct the majority of tutoring sessions online over Zoom. Over the years, I have tested multiple different methods of this but have found the most efficient and user-friendly medium is using a OneNote folder to go through concepts and questions during the session that the student will have access to at all times to review content from the lesson. I can offer in-person tutoring, depending on location.
Tertiary education:
- Bachelor of Science (Medical Science) - University of Sydney (2020-22)
- Doctor of Medicine - University of Melbourne (2023-present)
Please message me if you have any questions!
Cheers,
Jack
