ACCENT REDUCTION SPECIALIST
Unlike most ESL teachers, I hold a Master's degree in Applied Linguistics (UT Arlington, 1995). In other words, I have the training to help my students with their accent and pronunciation. Check out the reviews in my profile. I have helped many students reduce their accents. That is the first step to being understood.
I can:
• Show you how to control those sounds that are hard to make and hear. (I mean, all of our mouths are made the same, right?)
• Teach you American English intonation, cadence, etc.
• And teach you American English word structure: syllable stress/accent, syllable types, etc.
FULLY ONLINE
I am set-up to take advantage of all that the internet has to offer. We work over Skype. This allows for lip-reading at a comfortable distance. I have my material on an on-line whiteboard, at iDroo.com, that we can both see and write on. We do our pronunciation homework over Extempore.com. The homework will keep you busy learning outside of class so that you will advance more quickly without spending as much money.
LEARNER CENTERED
My teaching style is learner-centered and learner directed. This means that each session is for you and not for me. My lesson plan is always flexible. If you want to drill sounds for an hour, I will be patient. If you want to lighten up and have a relaxed conversation, I will accommodate. If you want something in-between, just let me know!
