I majored in math and physics at Yale, and received a PhD in statistical physics at Harvard. I have also worked in scientific areas throughout my career. As such, I have very deep expertise in math and science, and I enjoy passing that on to students. I am excellent at explaining things to people of all levels and abilities. I am highly experienced having tutored full time (>2000 hours per year) for the past few years. I primarily focus on math, physics, statistics, and chemistry, to college students, high school students, and professionals. I also tutor people in competition math / science such as AMC and AIME and USPhO, as I was top 4 in the US Chemistry Olympiad, top 20 in the US Physics Olympiad, and top 50 in the US Math Olympiad.

Hey! I'm Haris, a computer science grad from McMaster University with a minor in statistics. I mainly enjoy teaching early college math courses (Calc I, II and Linear Algebra), discrete math, as well as various programming courses (especially functional and object oriented programming). Formerly a TA for a discrete math course, I have a lot of experience with teaching a wide range of students and understanding how to help them engage with and understand the content in a way that feels intuitive. Feel free to contact me regarding any high school or university exam prep!

The whiteboard can also be used if you prefer to solve questions while I monitor and correct your mistakes or provide assistance if necessary. Bio: I earned my doctorate in mathematics from the Univ. of Sherbrooke in Quebec in the field of combinatorial dynamical systems. I received my Master's degree in mathematics from the Univ. of Manitoba with a concentration in functional analysis. Additionally, I hold a BSc and a MSc in pure mathematics with a concentration in modern algebra from the Isfahan Univ. of Technology in Iran. As a lecturer, a teaching assistant, and a mentor, I have taught mathematics to countless students, and I understand the importance of mentorship in the success of students. I have taught mathematics at the universities of Manitoba, Sherbrooke, Saint Boniface, and New Brunswick throughout my career. Since 2010, I have been tutoring and teaching math both in-person and online to students ranging from high school to university graduate level. My students come from all over the world, including China, Hong Kong, Europe, the Middle East, North America, and so on. I have gained valuable teaching experience by helping numerous students with a wide range of math backgrounds.

Key Words: Discrete Math, Discrete Mathematics, Proofs, Pre-Calc, Pre-Calculus, PreCalc, PreCalculus, Calc or Calculus, Alg or Algebra, Trig or Trigonometry, Geometry, College Math, College Mathematics, Quantitative Reasoning, high school math or mathematics, Common Core, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th grade I tutor students in College/University & K-12 and have 5+ yrs of experience as an online/remote Tutor. I specialize in undergraduate Math, but also frequently tutor Physics, Economics, Taxation, and English/Writing. I love Math & always hope that my enthusiasm/encouragement can help students, whether they are looking to progress in Math or just complete their required courses. I have found that all students will hit a group of Mathematical concepts that just do not click, whether it is early in K-12 or not until 3rd-4th year university level Math. It can be very frustrating, especially when it is difficult or even impossible to obtain the necessary help from teachers, campus tutors, etc. The primary goal of hiring a tutor is to receive individualized assistance & a customized approach. That is why I tailor my explanations to each student's learning style. For instance, some students prefer that I look over their work & just give them hints when they get stuck. Other students prefer to provide me with specific questions they are stuck on, & have me show them as a tutorial. I particularly try to focus on the underlying concepts & provide the student with context as to how each concept matters. Far too often, students are told to do things a certain way, but they are not told why nor even how it pertains overall. I have a BS in Mathematics from Stockton University. During college, I developed study groups in Partial Diff Eq, Engineering Graphics, & Adv Discrete Math. I was also Treasurer of Stockton's Math Club, which focused primarily on assisting local students & hosted an annual Math Mayhem competition between 12 N.J. High Schools.
